Microsoft 365 GDAP Relationship Expirations

Microsoft 365 GDAP Relationship Expirations

What is GDAP (Granular Delegated Admin Privileges)?

Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP) is a Microsoft security framework that enables authorized partners to access and manage a customer's Microsoft 365 environment securely.

GDAP helps ensure partners have the necessary permissions to support customers and manage their Microsoft 365 services and to enhance security, Microsoft requires for the GDAP relationships to expire after a set time (2 years) and after they must be manually renewed by the partner/customer.

Why is it important to renew your GDAP relationship?

Renewing your GDAP relationship is essential to maintaining uninterrupted service. When a GDAP relationship expires, your access and support capabilities are significantly impacted.

Failure to renew may result in:
  1. Reduced ability for our Support team to assist with your break-fix requests
  2. Limited visibility to your users settings and licenses associated.
  3. Inability to manage existing Microsoft 365 tenant settings.

How can we renew your GDAP relationship?

We will provide you with a link for the new GDAP relationship that will be active for the next two years (the maximum amount of time we can activate it for). A Global Administrator must click on the link, log in with their credentials to review the administrator roles requested and submit the approval of the request.

We will proactively share the link with the contacts we have on file but if you have not received it or would like to have further information on this relationship, please reach out to support@teamventi.com. We will gladly assist you further.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How do I know if I need to renew my GDAP relationship?
You will receive a notification from Microsoft mentioning that your relationship will renew shortly followed by another notification from us with the new link to renew. You can also open a request by sending an email to support@teamventi.com to check the status.

Q: What happens if I don’t renew?
If your GDAP relationship expires, we will no longer be able to:
  1. See your tenant settings if you require assistance.
  2. Verify your users and their assigned licenses.
  3. Reset passwords or regain access to the tenant on emergency scenarios.
Q: What credentials do I need to approve the GDAP relationship?
You must have Global Admin credentials for your Microsoft 365 tenant in order to complete the approval in Microsoft’s Admin Center.

Q: What if I don’t have the Global Admin credentials for my Microsoft tenant?
You will need to recover or reset your credentials through our Support at support@teamventi.com or Microsoft.

Q: How can I confirm if my GDAP relationship is active?
You can see the status on Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Settings > Partner Relationships. If you have any questions, please reach out to support@teamventi.com

Q: Will my data or services be lost if GDAP expires?
No. Your data and core Microsoft services will remain active. However, our ability to manage existing subscriptions and provide support will be limited until GDAP is renewed.
